Building homes for the homeless was a project to provide 11 high quality apartments to allow displaced people to regain their independence and take control of their lives. This was commisioned for the charity Brick by Brick.

Set within a steeply sloping landscaped site, the project is constructed from sustainable materials to meet the exacting standards of EcoHomes. The buildings form is divided into four elements arranged around the central staircase core which expresses itself within the mass by four converging roof lights. Through the use of a Cross Laminated Timber super structure the roofs and lantern were installed in four days allowing internal works to progress rapidly. Pre-fabricated projecting balconies of natural oak, with their integral planters allow the building’s residents a small external area to plant, softening and greening the exterior.
